Swinson Family Reunion

The Swinson family gathered in San Fransisco this summer to reconnect families that had not seen each other in a long time. It had been about 15 years since the last major reunion took place in St Thomas at Ted and Betty's 50 th Wedding anniversary.

2nd Lieutenant John Arthur Swinson

I had missed an email that had this information.

2nd Lieutenant John Arthur Swinson, Adjutant General's Department (USA), was the Assistant to the Military Attache in Lisbon, Portugal from July 16, 1918 until his return to the U.S. in 1919/1920(exact date?)

He received the "Ordem Militar De Avis" ( terceira classe) from the Republic of Portugal

as well as the

"Order of Christ" from the Republic for saving the life of the President/King of Portugal, Sidonio Bernadion de Silva Pais on Dec. 5, 1918.

Hey Eric...   Attached are the most recent pics i could find...one of my siblings, Jennifer, Tom, Adam, me, and Paul (My Dad was your Grandma's older brother, and my oldest brother Johnnie was close in age to your Mom and Dad, but died at a young age. The second photo is a pic of me and my two daughters, Heather (29 years old) and Jennifer 28 years old next month -- the same birthday as you, actually, except for the year!) I hope you and your family are doing well...how close do you live to Atlanta? (My daughter Jen is moving down to Midtown this summer to be with her fiancee.)   Love ya, Maryann

REUNION !!!!!!

Hello Everyone,

We have decided that our Swinson Clan Reunion with be:

Thurs,June 24 through Sunday, June 27, 2010, in Berkeley, CA.

Sandy McLeod was able to get a $165/night price for a group of about 20 (?) at the Claremont Resort & Spa. I also found that there is a Doubletree at the Berkeley Marina for $89/night, as well as the Super 8, also $89/night.

The Committee will be putting together activities and dinners for us, so please make your reservations and let me know if you will be coming.

Reunion plans Begin

Ok, well the plans have started to take shape. There is a new poll to the right on dates so please vote. Names are not attached to the poll so someone will try to get in touch with you soon.

A couple of new things are happening:

For those on facebook, a Swinson Family Group has been created. It is a monitored (closed) group so not just anyone can see it. Do a request to join. ***** J A Swinson Family ******

We have the process set up to allow family members to post to the blog themselves via email. All you have to do is:

Have a Subject and this will become the title for the post
The email body is the post and attached pictures will upload.

Go to the facebook page for the email address. We will also try and get it sent out to everyone via e-mail.

Inauguration Day

Well the day is coming up quick. The Anderson's have arrived in MD and are staying with family. They will be headed into DC to pickup their tickets for the Inauguration and to scope out the lay of the land.

Hannah Captures 8th place!

Rob gets Approved to sit for CPA exam

Rob Upson who is married to Elisabeth Anderson who is the daughter of Susan Anderson who is the daughter of Elisabeth Sharp (sorry I got started and got carried away) has been approved to sit for the CPA Exam. He is now done with classes and is just doing Prep work. He is expecting a letter in December from the National Organization with the date.

Family Tragedy

We've had a terrible tragedy in the family. Mickey was in an accident coming down a steep windy mountain road on his bike in Ashland Oregon...see links below to an article and video.. He is in intensive care with severe injuries including a broken neck which has left him paralyzed. John, Sara, and I are here with him at the Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford Oregon. I can barely see through the tears to write this but I will keep you updated as we know more...please let others know who i have forgotten to include in this email.Keep us in your prayers,
